Young people are the leaders of tomorrow and they can make huge changes to the world that is around them. They can do that through social media (online) and through youth activism, taking part in different actions in the community (offline).
There are some different ways how youth can make a change in the community:
Many young people volunteer in some way these days. By volunteerism you can add experience to your CV, you can teach, organize sports events, can participate in the community center or youth organization etc. By these activities, you can make a real difference.
- Write to the local representative
They want to hear from their community members what they want to change, how they can improve something, what they can do for their citizens – so, let’s ask them!
Write to them, or even ask for a meeting with them, and show them what you think they should be focusing on.
- Use online platforms to reach others
There’s never been a greater time in history for reaching out to millions of people around the world. Probably you have seen how a single Twitter or Facebook “hashtag” can make massive social awareness or change in the community, but in the world too. There are a lot of online possibilities that you can use to make a change, you can easily reach new audiences and if it’s featured then you could see your article reaching thousands of people.
- Think out of the box
It’s good to be different. Use other ways to find solutions, to resolve problems, be creative and think out of the box.
What means “think outside the box”?
Among the most well-worn phrases in the business world is “thinking outside the box”. It is supposed to mean thinking creatively, freely, and off the beaten path. It’s the kind of thinking that — in an age of increasingly powerful algorithms and neural networks — garners significant attention. For now, it’s the kind of stuff that machines can’t do that well.

Youth Banks Network Macedonia (YBNM) is an open network supporting youth employment using the youth banks model. This model brings a range of benefits to young people involved, particularly as regards their skills. Young people can develop an employability edge by learning to budget, work in a team, assess projects according to guidelines and requirements they have set out, fundraise effectively and communicate their message through various media platforms. Though youth banks model, youth get more involved in their local communities, they build connections with relevant stakeholders and get empowered on action.
